In Intimate Detail: How To Choose, Wear, and Love Lingerie by Cora Harrington

If you’re a lingerie lover or someone who is interested in wearing lingerie, than this book is for you! Starting this blog I wanted to give reviews and talk about anything and everything lingerie. To make sure I know what I’m talking about, I READ. This book right here, gave me pure LIFE.

Cora Harrington is a Black Woman with a pure love for lingerie and body-positivity. Each chapter is full of garment definitions, helpful tips, and the reassurance that your body is JUST FINE. She also is a very firm believer of, “If it doesn’t fit? Throw it out.” I have yet to apply this type of thinking to my lingerie closet and drawers. Trust me I have several pieces that I have bought and didn’t fit the way I wanted. If we’re really being honest, what am I holding onto them for when I can make room for SEVERAL better pieces.

Harrington tells us just this, life is too short to tolerate bad lingerie. You don’t need to have a horrible fitting garment in your ensemble when there are so many options out there for you. She also brings up the fact that there are two ways to measure for your bra size. Once you know which measurement style the brand uses you’re bound to get a better fit in your bra. I don’t give a fuck about bras, but let me tell you something. I measured myself at 36C in SavageXFenty and it’s been a PERFECT fit ever since. I was amazed when I got my first bra from them and it fit like a glove. Trust me, a well fitting bra will surely have you acting out.

Not only does she cover bras. She covers underwear, corsets, loungewear, hosiery, and shapewear. The way she talked about shapewear had me wanting to run out and get some. So if you see me with a little faja, it is what it is. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to achieve a certain look and there’s nothing wrong with wearing no shapewear at all. This entire book is a guide to simply help you do you. I also really appreciated the sections that mentioned on how to care for lingerie, how to pack for travel, how to store your lingerie. This is THE lingerie guide.

This book is severely detailed and that’s the major thing that I loved about it. I grabbed my copy from Amazon, but you can get yours just about anywhere. It comes in both e-book and hardcover form.

Thank you for stopping by and reading! This will hopefully be the first of many book reviews. I’m currently reading through SO MUCH manga. SO MUCH. A bitch is having a blast.
