I remember seeing this with some high school friends. We excitedly took the bus up to the mall to catch a good ole PG-13 rated horror movie. Honestly, I wish I could experience this again in theaters for the first time.

It’s the scene where Lorraine is explaining the dream (or nightmare) she had of being in the house.

“There was something in there with him. It was standing there in the corner.”

Seeing that black figure, tall and menacing, pointing at Dalton was spooky. A shadowy figure that creaks as it moves. Although ‘creaks’ feels….wrong. The sound is more of broken bones moving through skin. Uncomfortable. Hearing that in theaters already put me on edge. The sounds comes up once more as Lorraine mentions she can still hear it’s voice.

Only this time, it’s as if the sound is in the room with us and not from a distant dream.

The Lipstick-Face demon screams behind Josh, but is only visible to Lorraine. That’s another terrifying layer. Something in the room that only you can see that you KNOW is looking to cause harm. Although we’ve been

Chile, this scene had me sleeping with the lights on. This intro was scary enough and the more I saw of this demon didn’t help. We see it working in its workshop listening to Tiptoe Through the Tulips by Tiny Tim. We see its face pressed up against the window as it notices Josh trying to save Dalton. We see it stampeding along the walls of the Lamberts home in a rush to claim Daltons body.

Everything about the reveal and showing was well done in my opinion. Effective scare.
